Our goal at Forward Training Center is to provide training, support and inspiration to men and women of Hood County. We operate under God’s grace, knowing that our worth and dignity come from work and serving others. All classes and material are free to students enrolled in the classes.

Campus
The Forward Training Center (600 W. Pearl St.) is located in the historic Granbury High School building now renamed after Jean Kelley Smith, a pillar of the Granbury community and also one of the first student to attend this high school build in the year 1935.
This Forward Training Center site in the training ground where all leaders and volunteers receive in-depth training to host classes.
Admissions
Learn How You Can Get Started
Forward Training Center was created to provide training programs to those who need to develop skills for employment. In order to assure success for men and women, specific criteria must be met for admission into Forward Training Center programs.
Eligibility
- An applicant must be willing to accept the program requirements in areas of responsibility and self-sufficiency with a desire to gain skills and knowledge for employment.
- An applicant must be physically, mentally and emotionally employable.
- An applicant must exhibit the mental and emotional maturity and literacy to successfully participate in classes.
- An applicant will be encouraged to pursue GED equivalency after graduation to aspire to higher job hire qualifications.
(Some employers may require a High School or GED diploma for employment.) Applicant will be encouraged to participate in computer classes and/or other stand-alone classes for further training. All classes are available at Forward Training Center. - An applicant must agree to a background check for acceptance into the program.
- An applicant can apply in The Works Program to determine if financial or other assistance is needed to complete the program.
- An applicant must be drug and alcohol free for this course. Random drug testing may be performed. If an applicant is found to be using drugs or alcohol he/she will be immediately dismissed from the program and be offered referral to an agency for treatment.
- Forward Training Center accepts applicants from all or no religious affiliation with no pressure to change their personal beliefs.

Who can be a student in the Forward Training Center program?
Men and women enroll in our classes to pursue further education to obtain longevity and better positions of employment.
Examples of people applying are those reentering the job force after being a stay at mom, widow/widower, those with disabilities, victims of family violence, those in poverty, and single parent with children, incarcerated, or recovering substance abuser.
