Volunteer Appreciation Event - Forward Training Center

Though the evening of January 25, 2018, was chilly, spirits and hearts were warm as the staff, board members and volunteers at the Forward Training Center of Hood County gathered at the top of Granbury in the Hood County Courthouse.

It’s not often that we can hold an event to show our volunteers how much we appreciate them. We are endlessly thankful for their hard work every single day, but in the chaos of every day, and the hustle and bustle in the preparation for the spring classes, we can’t always take the time to show our volunteers what they mean to this organization.

In the middle of the Historic Granbury Square, Forward Training center employees shed light on the past year’s successes, why we do what we do, and of course, show our true appreciation to all the hard work done by our volunteers.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Hood County, our efforts to change the cycle of poverty in the community would be almost impossible without the role of selfless community volunteers in classes, organization, our new construction, fundraising, teaching and much more.

Mike Lang spoke on behalf of both the community and the State of Texas, presenting several certificates and a flag that was flown this year above the State Capitol in Austin.

Laurie Lilly, Forward Training Center Program Facilitator, made opening remarks for the evening event, thanking each individual volunteer for their selfless service, and also giving God the credit for the milestones made in the Hood County community.

“God is with us, not just in us, but with us,” Lilly said. “We thank God for each volunteer. Spread the word about Forward Training Center, because we are ready to take off.”

As Forward Training Center grows and changes lives, we will constantly need more hands to help shape the lives of our students. If you or someone you know is interested in just donating a little bit of time, or a little bit of money, we can promise you that it makes a world of difference.
